Rammed Earth Insulated Walls

As you can see from our popular posts, Passivhaus remains another of the most frequented articles. Fitting right in to this technology comes this concept of rammed earth insulated walls.

Designed on the rainy west coast of Canada, SIREWALL insulated rammed earth technology is suited for a full range of forecasts. Mother Nature has been moody lately, sending temperatures off the charts in hot, muggy summer climates in the east and mid-west along with cold, wet and unpredictable swings to the Pacific Northwest. One of the main benefits of insulated rammed earth is its constant thermal comfort that does not waiver even with the unstable temperament of Mother Nature.

With the mass of insulated rammed earth (most walls have four inches of insulation enveloped with the mass of 14 – 20 inches of rammed earth), SIREWALLS are ideal to incorporate into passive designs. Using architecture, passive design approaches minimize energy consumption and ultimately, improve thermal comfort, among other benefits

  1. We saw a lot of rammed earth homes and buildings in Australia in the mid-1990's. They were so attractive, because the rammed earth created a beautiful design on the walls that was very attractive and artistic. Nice to see that it has finally made its way to North America.
