Stocking Idlewild for the Season

On Friday June 15th, the Kootenay Trout Hatchery stocked Idlewild Lake with one thousand sterile trout in preparation for both the Sam Steele Fishing Derby and the following summer months of fishing. This is the second stocking of the lake this year.
A good crowd of interested adults and children  were there to witness the release and to practise their skill with the rods.  This event was just one of several public events the Hatchery puts on during the summer months.

The Children took turns emptying a pail of fish into the water and it wasn't long before an Osprey appeared for lunch.

The remainder of the fish are released.
